Hello all and welcome back to my blog! Today's post is going to be everything you need to know if you're looking into buying a Clarisonic. I'm also trying to figure out how to structure all my posts, including reviews since those are what I do most here on the blog. I'm going back to my old style, so if you have any feedback for me, please let me know in a comment.
Without further ado, let's get into it!
Throughout the years, in my search for a cure to end my acne, I've come across this little device. I read up about how it helped clear some people's skin, making it smooth, soft, and supple. But, I had my doubts. Because on the flip side, there were people going through terrible purging. And I was terrified! If you've ever had acne before, you would know the feeling of finding your skin in a place that is 'good enough' and being too scared to try anything new lest it gets any worse. Contrast that with vacillations to 'Oh, it can't get any worse; let me try products A, B, C, D...... Z.... etc...'
Well, about 2 years ago, in my Sophmore year of college, I found my skin to be in what I'd consider an 'Ok' place. It was clearing up, but I was left with scarring and congestion. So, after a very stressful set of finals at the tail end of the fall semester, I saw that the Clarisonic Mia was on sale at Ulta for $99 and I had a coupon for 20% off, so I thought, 'Hey, perfect time to try this out!'. So, I bought it... and haven't looked back since.
This was what really kicked my skin back into shape in terms of the texture and congestion. The brush that you use is very important, as some can be too rough. My favorite is the Sensitive skin brush head, as seen in the picture above. I've also been loving the Radiance brush head, which is actually quite a bit softer than the Sensitive one.
I only use this once a day, at night with my cleanser. I luckily didn't get any purging, probably because I only used it once a day. I noticed instant results, the biggest one being: smoother skin. I had suffered with congestion in my skin for a while, and it wasn't until I incorporated this device that it got much better. This device didn't get rid of all congestion though, as I added in some AHA and BHA products to help exfoliate the skin chemically (which you've probably heard me talk about all the time).
Slowly, as my diet got cleaner, as I found the right skincare products, my skin cleared faster, and faster, and the scars from previous acne, which was all over my face, well, those went away too.
So to wrap up, you might be asking yourself, 'Is this for me?'
Well, that depends. I know there are some people out there who despise the Clarisonic and facial cleansing brushes because it's too rough on the skin, or it causes problems, but I think as with everything, one needs to use this correctly. By correctly I mean selecting the right brush for your skin, and not pressing the device so hard onto the skin during cleansing that it whittles down the top barrier so much that your skin is raw and angry. Gently touching the brush to your face and letting it get out any impurities at night will do wonders. I'm a big fan of it and feel that it helps my products I put on afterwards penetrate the skin deeper.
So the real wrap up, from me now: I love this. I think it's helped my skin health immensely and it's the ONLY device I use in my routine on a daily basis. Since it's winter time right now, those pesky flakes on the sides of my face stand NO chance with the Clarisonic and my current skincare routine!
Have you tried the Clarisonic (all variations, they have so many now!)? If you have, let me know how you got on with it. If you want to try it but have reservations/questions, I'd be happy to assist, just let me know in a comment.
Talk to you all again soon!
