Herbivore Blue Tansy Resurfacing Clarity Mask Review

Hello and welcome back to my blog for Day 8 of Daily Blogging! Today I have for you a review on another Herbivore product - the Blue Tansy Resurfacing Clarity Mask.

This is a review of the Herbivore Blue Tansy Resurfacing Mask. This blue mask features blue tansy as the main ingredient to calm and soothe the skin. It also has a blend of AHA and BHA, all from natural sources, to gently remove dead skin cells and promote smoother skin.

Without further ado, let's get into it!

Q: Where can I buy it?
A: Sephora stores, sephora.com, herbivorebotanicals.com

Q: How much does it cost?

A: Full size: $48 USD; Mini duo: $29 USD

Q: How much do I get in one bottle?

A: Full size: 2 oz / 60 mL; Mini: 1 oz / 29 mL

Q: What's the packaging like?

A: This mask is housed in a heavy glass jar with a white lid. The print on the front is clean  and easy to read. Since the glass jar is clear, you can see that the mask is a blue/green/violet color.

Q: Will it suit my skin?
A: If your skin is acne prone, textured, sensitive, then this mask will be great for you. It'll work especially well if you're prone to redness in your skin as this will help calm it down. I think this is gentle enough to work for any skin type.

Q: Is the scent going to give me a headache?
A: It shouldn't, unless you're extremely sensitive to scents. It has a herbal scent similar to the Herbivore Lapis Facial Oil (review here). I don't find the scent to be too cloying or sticking around long after application.

Q: How do I use it?
A: I take about a dime/nickel sized amount about once a week or as needed for 15-20 minutes on the skin and then washing off with a warm wash cloth.

Q: When do I use it?
A: At night or in the morning, after cleansing and always following with moisturizer.

Q: What are the ingredients?
A: Aloe Barbadensis (Organic Aloe) Leaf Juice, Hydroxyethyl Ethylcellulose (Plant Derived), Glycerin, Glyceryl Caprylate, Salix Nigra (Willow) Bark Extract, Tanacetum Annuum (Blue Tansy) Flower Oil, Jasminum Sambac (Jasmine) Flower Water, Ananas Sativus (Organic Pineapple) Fruit Extract, Carica Papaya (Organic Papaya) Fruit Extract, Carica Papaya (Organic Papaya) Leaf Extract, Leucidal (Radish Root Ferment).

Q: What's the texture like?
A: It's very gel-like and thin, even on the skin. It might look a bit crazy with the blue color in the jar, but spread out onto the skin it's pretty much clear.

The Herbivore Blue Tansy Resurfacing Clarity Mask has a jelly texture and smooths onto the skin in a slippery layer. In the jar, it looks almost like a piece of blue glass. It's beautifully translucent and goes onto the skin clear.

Q: What're the pros?
A: This is a great resurfacing/acid mask to start off with if you have very sensitive skin. It's not as intense or strong as the Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Sukari Baby Facial (review here). It uses gentle fruit acids as a natural AHA and Willow Bark as a natural BHA. This also really helps with redness in the skin. I find that once I use this, any remaining redness from my acne scarring or just in my skin in general is greatly reduced. Even better, the ingredients are all clean! I just have a little one of this mask from a duo I bought called the Herbivore True Blue Skin Clarifying Duo, which has a mini of this mask and a mini of the Lapis oil for only $29 at Sephora.

Q: What are the cons?
A: This is a teeny tiny con that is more based on my skin than anything else - while this does help to make my skin feel smoother, it doesn't work as well as the Drunk Elephant Baby Facial. Now, this is mostly because my skin is very used to having treatments and acid exfoliation on a daily basis, so this was almost too gentle for me. I find that any texture on my skin is reduced slightly, but not as greatly. That being said, I do still think that everyone should give this a try and see how the results are for your skin!

Q: Would I repurchase?
A: Maybe, but only to use as a gentle resurfacing mask alongside another, stronger mask, like the Drunk Elephant Baby Facial.

Conclusion: All in all, I do really like this mask as part of my weekly masking routine. It's quite gentle and does work well. I mainly like to use this during the winter time when my skin is extra dry, sensitive, and cracked because any stronger treatment will sting my skin.

That's all for me today, so thank you all so much for reading. If you've tried this mask, let me know how you liked it by leaving me a comment below. If you have a favorite mask, let me know what that is as well! I'll talk to you all again tomorrow with another post! :)
