Review: Volition Beauty Prismatic Luminizing Shield SPF 50

Hello and welcome back! As promised, I'm daily blogging, so today, I've got another review for you, this time on the Volition Beauty Prismatic Luminizing Shield SPF 50. Without further ado, let's jump into the details!

Q: Where can I buy it?
A: Sephora stores, Sephora.com, volitionbeauty.com

Q: How much does it cost?
A: $35 USD

Q: Will it suit my skin?
A: If you have oily/combo, acne prone, sensitive skin and you find that all the sunscreens you've tried in the past have irritated your skin or broken you out, then this is definitely a game changer for you!

Q: Is the scent going to give me a headache?
A: It shouldn't. It has a very slight sunscreen/powdery, fresh scent upon application, but it doesn't linger and dissipates quickly.

Q: How do I use it?
A: Shake it slightly, and then squeeze out about a quarter sized amount onto your fingers and spread evenly along your face and neck.

Q: When do I use it?
A: As the last step of your morning skincare routine after your moisturizer and before your makeup!

Q: What are the ingredients?
A: Cyclopentasiloxane, Water, Coconut Alkanes, Isododecane, Glycerin, Polyglyceryl-3 Polydimethylsiloxyethyl Dimethicone, PEG/PPG-18/18 Dimethicone, Adipic Acid/Neopentyl Glycol Crosspolymer, Lauryl Dimethicone, Triethoxysilylethyl Polydimethylsiloxyethyl Hexyl Dimethicone, Aluminum Hydroxide, Stearic Acid, Butylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Titanium Dioxide, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Actinidia Chinensis (Kiwi) Fruit Water, Coco-Caprylate/Caprate, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hexylene Glycol, Alcohol, Sophora Flavescens Root Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Glycyrrhiza Uralensis (Licorice) Root Extract, Hydrogenated Lecithin, CI 77491, CI 77492. - Ingredients taken from sephora.com

Q: Is this a chemical or a physical sunscreen?

A: It's both! It has Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Oxide, and Octinoxate to provide the SPF. The physical/mineral aspect is from the Titanium Dioxide and the Zinc Oxide while the chemical aspect is from the Octinoxate.

Q: What's the texture like?
A: It's extremely runny/liquidy and goes smoothly onto the skin

Q: What're the pros?
A: I have never had any luck with sunscreens in the past. They've all broken me out or irritated my skin. They've all had strong scents that would linger around the whole day. Eventually, I stopped using sunscreen for about a year in order to keep my skin from breaking out. Considering I have acne scarring, I knew it was important to wear sunscreen daily, especially since I was outside walking around campus everyday. Then, this lovely sunscreen came out and I was introduced to it at Sephora. I bought a bottle, tried it out... and I've used it every single day! It doesn't have an offensive scent, it doesn't feel greasy on the skin, it isn't thick, and best of all, it hasn't irritated my skin! I looks beautiful underneath makeup as a primer because it has a barely detectable opalescent sheen that perfects the skin. It has a lovely, thin, runny texture and is easy to apply. It's compact enough that it will travel easily.

Q: What are the cons?
A: The only bad thing is that once you squeeze out the amount that you need, you need to tip the bottle backwards to avoid the fluid from leaking out straight away because it's so liquidy. This is such a small thing that I will easily overlook for how fabulous this product is!

Q: Would I repurchase?
A: Yes! I'm planning to replenish my supply during the Sephora VIB sale in the fall and I've already bought another bottle for my mom.

Conclusion: If you've struggled with finding a good sunscreen in the past and have just given up on wearing sunscreen even though you know that you really should, give this a shot! It ticks all the boxes for me in terms of a sunscreen that I'll wear everyday and even better, it keeps my combo/oily skin balanced throughout the day. If you look at the ingredients list and find yourself scared by the Stearic Acid since it might be pore clogging, don't be afraid of it, because it looks like, at least in this formula, that it's a low enough concentration to not irritate the skin. This is coming from someone who has had many issues in the past with breakouts from cosmetics and sunscreens that have Stearic Acid as an ingredient. All in all, this is the best sunscreen that I've found for my skin and I would recommend this to you all 100%!
