Hello and welcome back to my blog! As you all know, I'm daily blogging, and so today I'm coming at you with a review of the Herbivore Lapis Facial Oil.
Let's dive into the details!
Q: Where can I buy it?
A: Sephora stores, sephora.com, herbivorebotanicals.com, dermstore.com
Q: How much does it cost?
A: $72 USD
Q: Will it suit my skin?
A: If you have oily/combo, acne prone, sensitive, red, parched, irritated skin and you've always avoided any product with any ingredient listed as some sort of 'oil' in the past, then yes! This is for anyone who wants to try balancing their skin out but has been hesitant because they don't want to cause more acne. The Blue Tansy helps to calm redness and the oil itself helps to restore and balance the skin.
Q: How is it packaged?
A: This oil is housed in a beautiful heavy glass bottle with a glass dropper. As you can see from the picture, it's a gorgeous blue color!
Q: Is the scent going to
give me a headache?
A: Nope! There is a herbal/tea-like scent, but it disperses moments after application.
Q: How do I use it?
A: I like to drip 4 drops of this onto the palm of my hand every morning, spread it evenly along both hands (but don't rub too much, otherwise the oil will just be moisturizing your hands), and then pat it onto my face.
Q: When do I use it?
A: I use this in the morning only, after cleansing my skin and before sunscreen.
Q: What are the ingredients?
A: Olive Squalane Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Capric Triglycerides (Fractionated Coconut Oil), Aleurites Moluccana (Kukui) Nut Oil, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Tanacetum annuum (Blue Tansy) Leaf Oil, Jasminum Sambac (Jasmine) Absolute, Rosa Damascena (Moroccan Rose) Absolute - Ingredients taken from herbivorebotanicals.com
Q: What's the texture like?
A: It's extremely smooth and thin, not at all thick or greasy.
Q: What're the pros?
A: This oil was formulated specifically with oily skin in mind. It has targeted ingredients like Blue Tansy and squalane, to name a couple, that help to calm and balance the skin's moisture without being heavy, irritating, or clogging the pores. I had very finicky skin that was constantly oily and dry at the same time (usually overbearingly oily), and was always looking everywhere for a product to mattify it for that coveted velvety finish that seemingly everyone else has. Alas, I came across this and it was during the time that I had converted over to the Clarins Lotus Face Treatment Oil (review coming soon on this!) as my night time moisturizer, so I decided to try this out as my morning moisturizer. When I started using these two oils in tandem, my skin balanced quickly and I would no longer be super shiny a few hours after applying my makeup! Pair this oil combo with the Volition Beauty Prismatic Luminizing Shield SPF 50 (review here), my skin is balanced and I don't have to worry about greasy, oily skin until the end of the day! Even better, all the ingredients are clean and natural.
Q: What are the cons?
A: The only con I can think of is the price. It is quite pricey at $72, but I used my Sephora VIB $20 bonus, so it was more bearable. Whether you get it on a deal or not, I think it's worth every penny.
Q: Would I repurchase?
A: Yes!
Conclusion: If you've wanted to try out an oil for your skin, but have always hesitated because you're afraid that it's going to do more harm then good, give this one a try! It's infused with good, clean, natural ingredients and really is a quality oil. The Sephora Fall 2018 VIB sale is coming up, so that's a good time to get a discount on this!
